Amazing! This is my first time reading this author’s work. I must say I was hooked after chapter 3. I could identify with some of the Birmingham streets due to living there for 2 years. It had some twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. I will definitely start reading more of this authors work! Great Job!

    • AmazingThis book was thought provoking. The characters were well developed and relatable. It appears the author did a lot of research, as the process of IVF was informative. There were so many issues dealt with, but they all came together cohesively. I loved the chapters and the titles. The counseling with Misha's pastor was enlightening. That the author used 9/11 to memorialize another tragic event, and even brought in the President and current issues was creative and added more realism to the [...]

    • Wow!!!This was absolutely one of the best reads of this year and my first by this beautiful author. It reminded me of a relationship I had about 7 years ago and I now have a name for it. Thank God I was his practice because I did meet and marry a fine, fun and God loving man!

    • Flaws & Imperfections This was an excellent story about finding love in spite of a person's flaws and imperfections. Ms. Monteilh did an excellent job of digging into the desires and dreams of the individuals, while allowing them to grow through their flaws.

This book was EVERYTHING I laugh, cry and was overwhelmed with joy. This speak so much to the current dating scene every professional single woman needs to read this

    • I have never read this Author's work before and I enjoyed it ! I bonded with Misha right away, I liked her and I rooted for her . When Devonta bumped into her I knew he was the one , at least I hoped he would be , because the author introduced him in a way , that let you know he was special , but like Misha I had my reservations . I cried a couple of times while reading this book because there is some real sadness in this story , but I laughed too , because it was equally funny . The author took [...]

    • Loved this book. It takes you through all the emotions having you laugh, cry, saying Amen to the Pastor's sermon, and singing along with the music that the characters listen too. Misha London is tired of being the practice wife so she decides to do something about it. The story takes you through her personal experiences with the men her family and friends. I am never disappointed when I pick up a book from Marissa Monteilh. I started reading her books in 2009. I was given an advanced copy in exc [...]

This book spoke to me on so many different levels. It filled me with so many different emotions from happy to sad to utterly heartbroken. It is a wonderful story of being a practice wife for men who turn around and marry someone else. A man will truly only be with one he feels he can't live without no matter how you felt in relationship. This story also shows that God is truly in control an works things in his timetable and all you think you don't have God will bless you with them substantially. [...]

    • Great book This book had a great story line. It opens your mind up to how many relationships we all have went through to prepare us for the right one. It also shows the pain families go through when losing a love one when things are unfinished. The storyline also showed the hatred there is in the world for all cultures and races. I loved the book. An amazing story with some what of a cliffhanger.

This is an unusual story that I found to be both hilarious and moving at the same time. Poor Misha London, her boyfriends breaks with her over the phone because his wedding is the next day.y what now? In walks Dr. Devonta Hill. who has more sketchiness that one can shake a stick at. Can Misha look past his crazy baby momma, and weird kids t find her happy every after? You'll have to read it and find out. This book makes me want to read more by this author.

    • WowsersI just finished this book. It was amazing how much I could relate to some of what Misha went. through. Im taking inventory on myself. All I can say is thank you Ms. Marissa for such an enlightening book and for shedding light for many women that have been the "Practice Wife," but won't admit it. This is a must read, a definite page turner.

    • This was my first read by this author. The storyline remained interesting & held my attention throughout. Misha's trials & tribulations with her relationships were well written. Situations presented were realistic & characters had good dialog. This is a great story I recommend all to read

It warmed my heart to read Dr. Devonta Hill and Misha London’s love story. Devonta was a true man in my opinion. No matter how much Misha turned him down after the start of their short-lived romance, he didn’t stop pursuing her. His pursuit was pure genuine and wasn’t just until he was able to win the chase. Devonta loved Misha, so much that he was even willing to undo a procedure he had done years before in order to give her what she wanted…a child. This book will take you on a whirlwin [...]

    • Awesome book!!!!!This book was so good! Loved the fact that it wasn't the typical drug dealer abused girlfriend book. Not that there's anything wrong with that but this was definitely a welcome change. It was so relatable and I'm right down the road from Birmingham so it was cool that I knew some of the places mentioned in the book. I loved that Devonta was successful and he was portrayed like a real character. He already had kids which most people do these days and Misha was definitely on a rol [...]

    • Crazy! I loved this book! From the beginning to the end. Misha got on my nerves with her indecisive self and treating that good man like that! And when I tell you I cried like a baby reading about Chanman and Giovanni! The ending definitely left room for a sequel. I hope Misha gets her trifling self together and her man forgives her and puts a baby in her!

    • This was my first read from this author and I was impressed. I wasn't sure what to expect from this read because I didn't actually read the book description first, I just went off of the name. It was so much more than I expected it to be and I loved the character

    • Good I enjoyed this book it was really good I want to check out other books by this author I felt some of the pain when the death hit the family

    • Wow.Deep, interesting, well written, thought provoking and a bit sad. Loved this read. . PRACTICE MAKES BETTER. Not perfect but perfect for your perfect mate.

    • Frogs FirstThe fairy tale says you must kiss the frogs and witches before you get to your Prince or Princess. This was very true in the case of Misha London and Dovonta Hill. A superb read with highs and lows, very realistic touching on all emotions. A must read.

    • LOVED THIS BOOKI was up late reading.I haven't done that in yearsAnother Grown Folks Relationship Dramabut with such relatable situations and characters I was invested from the first Chapter.

    • Overall a good read Was hard to get into at first and difficult to follow. After I got into the characters it was easier to finish. I enjoyed it because I can relate to it. I only gave three stars because it was predictable at times.

    • Good readLong before I read this book, I had been referring to myself as a practice wife. Like Misha, it seems that men used me, treated me like crap, took me through all the drama, then got with another woman and did right by her, so the title alone drew me in. The story was entertaining with a sad tragic scene I didn't see coming, but it felt so real with what's happening around us everyday. I was glad Misha didn't let her doubts get in the way of her happiness, but I also understood, as I've [...]

    • I enjoyed this book. Misha London did not have a good record when it came to boyfriends. Carson and Misha dated for 2 years, and Misha thought that they would marry. Carson called Misha and broke up with her over the phone, and got married the next day. Misha is upset because she wants to be a wife and a mother. Misha decides to have a baby; since she froze her eggs years ago. Misha met Devonta Hill and the rest is history. We must remember things don’t come when we want them to; it’s all ab [...]

    • This book is the second book I've read by this author. It's a good book with a good background. The main character (Misha) is starting to questioning all of her past relationships because every time she broke up with a man, the next day or month, he is marrying another woman. So the term practice wife is what she thinks she is. Will Misha find love or become a practice wife?

    • This was a good read Misha found her for forever mate her husband after being considered a practice wife in so many relationships. Devontae was the ideal husband he was just too good to be true to Misha. There was several emotional moments in this book but if you are looking for a good fast read pick this book up.

    • Raw and emotionalThis is my first read by this author. I was engaged from beginning to end. This book was so raw and emotional and so real. The characters were relatable and story was well executed. I laughed and shed tears. I look forward to reading more from this author.

    • Great Book I really enjoyed this book. The story was right on point.I have friends that went through the same problem. I will be sharing this title with them. I will also read more books by this author. Loved it !!!
