    • I just gave my own book 5 stars shameless self promotion on . ;)

    • Before opening the book, I thought it might be, based on the cover alone, a book similar to Salt by Kurlanksy or a How the Irish Saved Civilization type books. It is not. I mistakenly took out Ms. Sutton's doctoral thesis it seemed. And I enjoyed it. Probably because the topics she delves into are two of my favourites: Dutch history and maps. Other than using the words 'epistemes' and 'concomitant' too often for my liking, which must be Sutton's favourites, this book shows different examples of [...]

    • I still haven't discussed my impressions of this book in any detail with its author, my twin sister, so I'm going to be brief and vague here. As Dr. Sutton will tell you herself, it is an academic work with a relatively narrow audience in mind. But since I don't belong to that audience, and since I not only liked it but found several good-sized (possibly revolutionary--though I do purposely overuse that word) insights in it, I'm inclined to say that it should be more widely read and considered.I [...]
